About The Owner/Founder
From the moment Hannah took her first steps at 9 months old, she has remained active and has turned her passion for health & fitness into a career. Despite Hannah's dedication to remain physically active and eat healthily, she too, like so many of us struggled with her weight. "Even though it would have been nice for me to not go through the mental, physical and emotional battle when it came to the scale, exercise and food, it has lead me to where I am today and for that reason alone, I am truly thankful. My struggle has also helped me to understand and relate better to those who are or have been in the same position as me" says Hannah.
At the young age of 22, Hannah was looking for a new career direction and discovered the "Professional Fitness Consultant" program through Medix School Toronto. After reading through what the course had to offer, Hannah didn't waste any time and signed up for the one year intensive program.
Within the first month of attending the program, Hannah knew that she wanted to start her own training company and started writing her ideas down. She came up with a name that she loved, but after discovering that the name already existed, a new name needed to be born. During this time, Hannah also made a commitment to herself to get into the best shape of her life and had two songs that helped to keep her focused and motivated as she did. The two song titles were "Liberty Walk" and "Firework." Those two songs were what inspired the business name "Liberating Fitness." "When I think of Liberating Fitness, I always think of fireworks going off behind the statue of liberty. An endless amount of people are chained down these days; especially fitness wise and after having been there myself, it has become my mission to help break them free from whatever has been holding them back" says Hannah.
After giving it a lot of thought and consideration, Hannah decided that "Liberating Fitness" was the perfect name for her business and one year later, here it is!
"The reality is, people are constantly bombarded with all kinds of "solutions" to their health & fitness dilemmas-but the thing that they don't realize, is that companies will prey on people and have them believing in things that could actually be quite damaging to their health as opposed to benefitting them. My goal is to help educate people to understand the difference between the two. People hurt themselves, sometimes on purpose and other times just because they don't know any better" says Hannah.
After being her own guinea pig over the last year, Hannah has achieved an endless amount of personal fitness goals and has completely transformed her body!
"For years, I wanted to accomplish certain fitness dreams, like being able to do a push-up with a clap, chin-ups, etc., but I kept hitting plateaus and I could never get past them. Once I learned the proper way of doing things, nothing was impossible for me! The human body is designed as such that if we train it the right way, it will adapt to that and keep progressing. The problem comes in when people limit themselves and make excuses on why they too can't see their fitness dreams come to pass" says Hannah.
"It hasn't been easy, but it definitely has been worth it! I said to myself, I can either remain the same, or I can give it my all and get the results that I have always wanted. Sure there were times where I wanted to say "forget this!"; but when it came down to it, I wanted it more than I didn't want it. As I look back a year later, I can see how far I've come and nothing feels better than knowing that I did this and I did it for me" says Hannah. "If you don't invest in yourself first, how do you expect to invest in anyone else? That would be like trying to give someone a ride when your gas tank is empty: it doesn't make sense. By investing now, you will reap the benefits later and you'll sure be glad you did" says Hannah.
